Every month Shlink Lincoln Sports Golf Card Review will be breaking down the Top 25 SP Authentic Golf Rookie card sales. As a dedicated collector of SPA Golf Rookies I keep a close eye on the eBay market. Rankings are not based on price alone as there must be at least two sales per month for a card to qualify. Notable single card sales are listed at the end of the rankings.

Note for May rankings:

It was another great month for SP Authentic Golf RC sales with over 300. Infact it was the second best month of 2008 as far as total sales go and I’m happy to report that only 10 of the current Top 25 had decreased prices from April.

Now that the Tiger hype has officially died (for now), and Lorena fever seems to be trending down, I’m left wondering what will be the next big Golf RC to break. Obviously no rookie card will ever get to the level of Tiger but as far as return on investment I look to numbers 11, 12 or 13 in this months rankings as being one of the next big Golf RCs to double in price in a short period of time. All three cards are short printed compared to the run of most other SPA Golf RCs (O’Hair /999 and Pettersen/Ogilvy as redemptions) and all three golfers are young with their best golf still ahead.

#1	Avg. Price $5608.33 High Price $6450.00 (BGS 9.5)	Tiger Woods 2001 SP Authentic Auto /900 For the first time in 2008 Tiger's /900 RC sees a slight drop in price, decreasing 18% from April. Also decreasing is the amount of sales, from 25 in April to 6 in May! This is good news if you're looking to buy. But buy soon. Prices are sure to increase this summer as the remaining majors loom. #2	Avg. Price $149.50 High Price $150.00	Phil Mickelson 2002 SP Authentic Auto /799 Lefty regains the #2 spot for the first time since January, and even on decreasing sales. No graded sales in May hurt the Avg. Price, down 14%. Here's to hoping Phil can silence the demons of Winged Foot this month.	Last Month #3 +1 $ Change -14%
#3	Avg. Price $117.10 High Price $156.50 (BGS 9.5)	Paula Creamer 2005 SP Authentic Auto /799 Paula jumps up two spots to get back into 3rd place with 6 total sales in May. Does Ms. Creamer have a major victory in her bag this year?	Last Month #5 +2 $ Change +23%
#4	Avg. Price $88.48 High Price $129.99	Sergio Garcia 2001 SP Authentic Auto /900 Sergio's RC took off last month after his Players Championship victory. There were 7 sales of his RC in May, with three topping $100, and also this eBay steal for $37.99.	Last Month N/A $ Change N/A
#5	Avg. Price $79.19 High Price $172.50	Lorena Ochoa 2003 SP Authentic Auto /1999 A slight drop in price this month for Lorena but still had the most total sales for the month with 28. The recent fever for Lorena's RC has been nothing less than amazing. Even Beckett noticed, as this card now books for $150.	Last Month #5 $ Change -10%
#6	Avg. Price $74.04 High Price $100.99	David Duval 2001 SP Authentic Auto /900 Where have you gone David Duvall, a nation turns it's lonely eyes to you........well maybe not. David's fall from grace has been painful to watch but his RC is still selling well. Here's to you Mr. Duval and hoping you can get back to your winning ways.	Last Month #6 $ Change +16%
#7	Avg. Price $66.48 High Price $80.00	Annika Sorenstam 2003 SP Authentic Auto /799 Annika announced her retirement in mid May which saw her RC increase 30% from April. In my opinion this is one of the most underrated SPA Golf RC's as this card books for less than $75. Not for long. Grab one now and stash it away. We'll miss you Annika.	Last Month #7 $ Change +30%
#8	Avg. Price $52.75 High Price $71.00 (PSA 10)	Retief Goosen 2001 SP Authentic Auto /900 Goosen gets back into the Top 10 on the strength of a PSA 10 sale. Retief, already with two US Open victories, should be amongst the favorites at Torrey Pines.	Last Month N/A $ Change +14%
#9	Avg. Price $23.77 High Price $37.00 (BGS 9.5)	Jasper Parnevik 2001 SP Authentic Auto /900 Jasper gets his second straight Top 10 with 4 sales in May including a BGS 9.5 sale. It took me five tries to beat Jasper on the World Tour in EA Tiger Woods 04. That has no relevance here, but it just feels good to finally get it off my chest.	Last Month #9 $ Change -5%
#10	Avg. Price $22.96 High Price $27.35	Natalie Gulbis 2003 SP Authentic Auto /1999 Natalie drops a few spots this month but still in the Top 10. I'm interested to see what will happen with sales of her RC once she gets her second LPGA win, which is surely just around the corner.	Last Month #8 -2 $ Change -13%
#11	Avg. Price $22.48 High Price $31.00	Suzann Pettersen 2004 SP Authentic Auto /1500 The first /500 of Suzann's SPA RC are autographed in black, with numbers 501-1500 autographed in blue. It would appear that the black auto is scarcer, however these were also redeemed first. It's hard to say for sure which auto variation is more rare so you might as well get both. #12	Avg. Price $20.10 High Price $24.26	Sean O'Hair 2005 SP Authentic Auto /999 Sean moves up three spots on a 100% increase from April. Could this be a sign of things to come?	Last Month #15 +3 $ Change +100%
#13	Avg. Price $14.13 High Price $20.75	Geoff Ogilvy 2004 SP Authentic Auto /1500 Geoff's RC sales have been steady since his 1st Time appearance in February. I expect this will continue into June as Geoff will be mentioned many times next week for his 2006 victory at Winged Foot.	Last Month #11 -2 $ Change -10%
#14	Avg. Price $13.47 High Price $27.07	Nancy Lopez 2003 SP Authentic Auto /799 Nancy returns to the rankings with 8 sales in May, including a High Price of $27.07 and a 79% increase. It's good to have Nancy back in the rankings.	Last Month N/A $ Change +74%
#15	Avg. Price $12.65 High Price $17.49	Se Ri Pak 2003 SP Authentic Auto /799 Up one spot to #15, Pak already has 5 major victories to her name and at the time of this typing is contending for another at the LPGA Championship.	Last Month #16 +1 $ Change +69%
#16	Avg. Price $11.55 High Price $14.83	Christina Kim 2005 SP Authentic Auto /999 Christina gets her second straight appearance, breaking into the Top 20, up four spots from last month. Coming off two Top 10s on the LPGA Tour in May (including a T2 at the Ultra Open), it appears collectors are starting to take notice of her SPA RC.	Last Month #20 +4 $ Change +118%
#17	Avg. Price $11.53 High Price $19.50 (BGS 9.5)	Adam Scott 2005 SP Authentic Auto /999 Adam becomes the second non-auto RC to appear in the rankings, coming in at #17 in his first GCR appearance. Look for Adam to contend next week at the U.S. Open. And look for this card to flirt with the Top 10 should he win. Note the 291% increase.	Last Month 1st Time $ Change +291%
#18	Avg. Price $7.75 High Price $12.50	Jeong Jang 2004 SP Authentic Auto /1500 Jeong makes the biggest jump of the month, moving up seven spots on a 69% increase. One of three RC Auto redemptions from 2004 SP Authentic.	Last Month #25 +7 $ Change +69%
#19	Avg. Price $7.26 High Price $9.00	Ben Curtis 2004 SP Authentic Auto /750 Mr. Curtis joins the likes of Tiger, Phil, Paula and Natalie with a fourth straight month in the rankings, moving up five spots in the process. This is one of the few remaining cards I need to complete my SPA RC PC, which means Ben will probably make it five straight come next month.	Last Month #24 +5 $ Change +57%
#20	Avg. Price $6.89 High Price $10.51	Jennifer Rosales 2004 SP Authentic Auto /1500 Jennifer makes the rankings for the 1st Time this month. This USC alum has only played two events thus far on the LPGA Tour and has not won since the 2005 SBS Open. Even still her RC card is amongst the most popular from 2004. #21	Avg. Price $6.61 High Price $7.38	Darren Clarke 2003 SP Authentic Limited Auto /100 The third Limited RC to make the rankings (all from 2003), Clarke is a great story, coming back to win on the European Tour in April for his first win since his wife's passing in 2006. As always it will be tough for a Limited RC to stay in the rankings but stranger things have happened.	Last Month 1st Time $ Change N/A
#22	Avg. Price $6.42 High Price $9.50	Judy Rankin 2003 SP Authentic Auto /799 GCR welcomes this LPGA Hall of Famer to the rankings. Judy had 26 wins on the LPGA Tour from 1962-1979. She enters the Top 25 on a 79% increase and 3 total sales in May.	Last Month 1st Time $ Change +71%
#23	Avg. Price $5.70 High Price $8.00 (PSA 9)	Mike Weir 2001 SP Authentic /2999 It's been an impressive run for Mr. Weir's RC, with a third straight appearance, and a non-autographed RC to boot. It only goes to show the staying power of Canada's best.	Last Month #17 -6 $ Change -19%
#24	Avg. Price $5.61 High Price $9.99	Karrie Webb 2003 SP Authentic Auto /799 Karrie gets overshadowed a bit by fellow 2003 alums Lorena, Annika, Natalie and Nancy. But don't let that sway you from picking up this card. The 1996 LPGA Rookie of the Year has 7 major wins and could very well add a few more before her career is through.	Last Month N/A $ Change -73%
#25	Avg. Price $4.79 High Price $5.75	Hunter Mahan 2004 SP Authentic Auto /1500 Last but certainly not least, Hunter sees a healthy 74% increase from April. Hunter returns to the Top 25 for the first time since March.	Last Month N/A $ Change +74%

Every month Shlink Lincoln Sports Golf Card Review will be breaking down the Top 10 SP Authentic Golf Rookie card sales. As a dedicated collector of SPA Golf Rookies I keep a close eye on the eBay market. Rankings are not based on price alone as there must be at least two sales per month for a card to qualify. Notable single card sales are listed at the end of the rankings.

I did not start fully tracking sales until mid month in January so this month’s rankings only list out the Top 9.


#1	Avg. Price $1387.67 High Price $1700.00 (BGS 9)	Tiger Woods 2001 SP Authentic Auto /900 Not much explanation needed here, the best golfer in the world = the best golf rookie card in the world.
#2	Avg. Price $109.65 High Price $115.63 (BGS 9.5)	Phil Mickelson 2002 SP Authentic Auto /799 Fitting that the 2nd best golfer in the world opens in the number two spot. This card is still a bargain considering Phil is always a shoe in for a few wins and will contend for a few majors every year. No graded cards were sold this month (that I saw) so you can expect to pay at least $120 for a BGS 9 or better.
#3	Avg. Price $87.00 High Price $107.50 (BGS 9.5)	Paula Creamer 2005 SP Authentic Auto /799 Paula comes in as the top lady this month. There has been a lot of activity on this card recently and I anticipate the Avg. Price will rise in the next few months. Some lucky eBayer got an ungraded Creamer RC for less than $70.00 in January. Creamer will open the 2008 LPGA season as the defending champion at the SBS Open in mid February.
#4	Avg. Price $39.46 High Price $40.00	Annika Sorenstam 2003 SP Authentic Auto /799 This card has cooled some over the last year as Annika went winless in 2007, though four Top 10’s was not too shabby. No doubt her career is winding down but Annika will always remain one of the top sellers in the hobby. Now might be a good time to pick up this card before the LPGA season gets to full steam.
#5	Avg. Price $24.50 High Price $31.00	Natalie Gulbis 2003 SP Authentic Auto /1999 Once mostly known for her looks, Natalie broke through for her first LPGA victory last season at the Evian Masters. This card has “Major” potential as Natalie is sure to capture a Major title now that that pesky first win is out of the way. Still her looks definately don’t hurt, as my fiance (hi Ash) often teeses me about my crush on Natalie. I’m glad to say I own a graded version of this card in my PC.
#6	Avg. Price $17.00 High Price 26.00	Zach Johnson 2004 SP Authentic Auto /1500 The 2007 Masters winner had two wins on tour last year and his rookie card has been amongst the best SPA Golf Rookies ever since. This card books for $40 in most guides, but you can still find it for much cheaper if you do your homework. Just don’t bid against me, as I still need to add this card to my PC.
#7	Avg. Price $3.69 High Price $5.11	Julie Inkster 2003 SP Authentic Auto /1999 Juli enters her 28th season on the LPGA, and was inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame in 1999. As a verteran of the LPGA she is always a threat to win. Bargain hunters can find this card for less than $3. That’s a steal for a H.O.F autograph.
#8	Avg. Price $2.53 High Price $3.52	D.J. Trahan 2005 SP Authentic Auto /999 Sales of this card picked up this last month after D.J.’s victory at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. I’m pleased to say I picked up this card myself for $0.99 right before his win.
#9	Avg. Price $1.80 High Price $1.80	Ben Crane 2003 SP Authentic Auto /1999 Ben sneaks into the Top 10 based on volume alone as two of his rookies sold last month for $1.80 each. I know because I was the losing bidder on both. Oh well. Ben went to my rival high school and I’ve been rooting for him ever since he broke on to the PGA Tour.
